Shaky Idle

Recommended Posts

My 2002 had a shaky idle for about the past year which appears to be getting a tad bit more noticeable. It's only noticeable when the motor is at temp, typically after I come off the highway and it's idling at a light. It's not scary shaky, just barely noticeable. If I bump the RPMs it's goes away. Mileage seams to be normal.

Could this be an early sign that maybe it needs injectors? It smokes pretty good and runs pretty rough when I fire it up on a cold day but maybe that's normal for 235,000miles with a missing EGR.

Thanks

I think your getting to the mileage for injectors.

Give Mike a call at Diesel Outfitters, he should be able to give you some past experience.

I know Hoss did injectors in his also, but that may not have been due to failure.

Could be your injection quantity needs to be adjusted.... Do a Google search on "hammer mod". It is my bet this needs to be adjusted based on the symptoms you are describing. A VAGCOM will be required.

You can change just the nozzles without pop testing these injectors. I bought nozzles off Ebay and changed them in about an hour.

No.. I was going to buy one then something shiny went by...

I have never needed it. Loosen the other three bolts and tap with a block.

yeah I have heard that too. Kerma loaned me one so I never had to try that.

Cascade German has them, formerly Boraparts. They will drop one in the mail and it would be to you in two days.

Metalnerd makes the socket and sells it for the same $23
