#652730 Dually Conversion Q's

Posted by GTroyer on 10 January 2018 - 02:10 PM

single tire Dana 80's are out there so the weight rating wouldn't necessarily change it you look at the newer single tire 3500's

I don't believe you'd go wrong doing this but IMHO save the bed [hang it in the garage rafters] and all the dual stuff so you could change it back or at least offer it to a buyer down the road.

as to the flat bed , if that's what your going with then why change out everything else , just change the bed and call it good. BTW flat beds are not low $$ items even used they are not low $$  ... and used ones usually need a ton of repair as I found out , by the time I was done converting mine and the repairs I could have bought a new one.

if you decide to change out to 2500 stuff the rear ends are not usually easy to sell and folks want them cheep .... but hold your price as the disk brake ones are not easy to find and $$$$ [in the $1000.00 range] beds are usually cheep , easy to come by and oft times near give away prices unless someone thinks he has gold. also suggest you do not store rear axle out in the weather as they will rust up badly and lower the value a bunch.

I do not see an EJECT switch [as in the James Bond car seats] for those PIA - aka A-Hole guests or ones who "forget" to chip in on fuel for those nice outings

other than that nice job

Posted by GTroyer on 19 October 2017 - 08:41 AM

good on ya Steve !!!  our youth are not well helped especially city kids in todays world.

a big brother type of thing I assume with religious backdrop is a great thing for young boys and or fatherless/absent father boys .

I was lucky to have a large family to raise me as my Mom and Dad were divorced when I was 3 years old , Grandparents and many uncles and aunts were watching over me and my sister as my Mom worked nights and slept days.

Scouting in a church based troop was very influential in my growing up and in my value system as well as a favorite uncle and aunt that took a very watchful and roll model roll and of course a ear lift and willow switch from Grandma and the ol belt of wisdom from Grandpa helped more than I think I would ever admit to  LOL

AGAIN THANK YOU for your time and efforts with youth !

now get yourself a sheet of 1" Sub-Flooring and then use it when you need that ramp area for flat load space ... also find a scale and get the weights empty figured out

#647861 what do you think of this fuel pump?

Posted by GTroyer on 06 September 2017 - 08:15 AM

Thumper ... I don't have one of these BUT you and I both know that snow will pack up any low level and even top of engine compartment area's  ... not one I'd want to install   MHO here ... especially when your building a cast off area for the pile.

BUTTT good news you have a early 24 valve and the boss is still there on yours for a mechanical pump and your early model cam has the lobe for that too ..  just grab up a 12 valve mechanical pump and install with a bypass pressure relief as the VP doesn't like 50+ lbs of pressure. several of us have this set-up .. in my case I did a cam install with the lobe as the 01's had no lobe on factory cam but did still have the boss for the pump.

where do you live [town] ?
