Elk Season 2019

Recommended Posts

I'm pretty much ready to go, the truck is loaded, and I havent forgot my license...

Staying in the same place on the 90 road near Mt. Adams until a week from Sunday.  I dont anticipate any blood being spilled but ya never know. :)

Weather is looking nice for camping...  Not so good for tracking.

I'll stop by if I find cell service and tell ya how its going.

Good luck!

I'm hunting on the lower part of our property tomorrow morning.  We've had a heard of a dozen elk hanging around with one legal bull (wife describes him as beautiful; I've only seen him at night), a spike, and 10 cows.  Don't expect anything but ya never know.  The pack won't be bad if I do get lucky. :right:

I was elk hunting last week in SE Oregon. After hunting in the same area for 25 years this was the first time I've never seen mule deer while elk hunting. Talking with the locals, they're blaming it on the increase of cougars and the introduction of wolves. I saw wolf tracks everywhere! They made my dog's track look like like a tiny puppy.

Our group got one spike on opening day and that was the only elk any of us saw during the season.

Good luck to you!

I'm back - what a great camping trip!  The weather was awesome and my zero degree bag kept me warm at night.

Actually saw more sign there than I have in the last ten years!  Maybe the heard is turning around.

No animals were harmed (yet)...

They're still up there, I came home a few days early.

Better head to Ennis Montana. Below my sister's RV park. Smart Elk, hang out with the cattle.c8bb4496ca64358374acc9a4b0578c16.jpg

The Elk rut is long over.  That is late August and into September.  Stick throwers get to hunt at that time.  The blacktails in the area are starting to enter the rut now.
