03-04 Guys are not alone

Cummins ISL9 EPA 2007 emissions came in with a miss and smoking. Pull the injector and it is fine theb this caught my eye. #2 exhaust valve seat dropped. Aren't the seats cryogenically Frozen and then stuffed into the head? 

I guess they don't believe in using some kind of liquid retainer...but would it even stand up to heat?

I am not sure but this is not the first one I have seen do this. I have seen 2 pre 2007 emissions engines do this also.

They are usually frozen in with a substantial press fit. Loctite won’t hold up to the heat. Staking the seats in is supposed to help prevent this.
