New horns for the truck

Recommended Posts

Well,I finally got tired of my lame horn. Only one works and its very quiet.

My son has bought a Cadillac horn set for his last two trucks.

They are a set of 4 horns of different pitches.

Sound sort of like a train and quite loud.

I think the 4 horn sets are on late 70s to early 80s Eldorados and DeVilles.

Found a set on EBay in Spokane and with quick shipping, now have them on the table here.

Between finishing off the fireplace and jobs around here before the plant hauling starts in 2 weeks, I hope to get a couple of hours to get them installed.. Rain is on the schedule for the next week ..YUK!!

This is for day to day use and I dont have a big compressor to run a set of real train horns ,so they were never an option.

Mine were gone right after my wife said these horns belong on a girls car :hit:

They don't sound that way now.

Nice! I've always wanted train sounding horns on my truck as well but still run the factory ones.

Sun is supposed to be here today(at least not rain). Better do the horns today.

Looking at my ARB bumper where the two crappy horns are presently.

Front left side, they are mounted on the heavy welded brace that stabilizes the end of the bumper.

Looks like a good solid spot to stay with, protected up behind the bumper .

But, there isn’t room for all 4 horns there to be tucked up nicely behind the bumper for protection.

I will likely put two horns on each end of the bumper as both sides have the nice sturdy wing braces.

The horns will be pointed down and slightly inward so theoretically the sound will blend right in front of the truck.

Some guys prefer to cluster all 4 horns together, but I don’t have that much space on my front end with

The bigger inter cooler and extra fans and other stuff. I also would like to keep the horns somewhat up and tucked behind the bumper for protection as my truck isn’t always a pavement princess...

Thoughts?

Got the horns installed. Hope this you tube video works...

Happy with the improved sound...

I will cover the two round light holes in the bumper with aluminum plate to seal up the bumper ends.

Made a couple of covers to fill the big water scoops on the front of the bumper.

This should keep the horns dryer.

Still debating if they should get painted the same as the bumper ?

Leaning towards painting them black.
