Must not be making contact any more - with the Comp on or off, I get the same boost and smoke (SMARTY #9)

I'll have to take a look at this some time - has anyone had a Edge Comp fail?

I have toasted a couple of the old Comps. How is your connection made at the pump? Soldered?

I also use a specialty clamp but been so long I dont remember who/where I bought it

Probably one of three places Waytek wire , MSC or McMaster .. its a screw in tight type of nifty clamp that is a positive connection that can be disconnected and reconnected with no loss of continuity . Its been disconnected for a few years

Definitely check that connection. I soldered and liquid electric taped it. My first pump actually had the wire break at the solder joint. So I reinforced it with a stainless barrel connector.

Do you have one of those yellow pencil looking things with the spring loaded metal point on the end that catches the wire and pierces it? I have seen them fail and have seen plenty of comp box failures as well.

I had the same issue as Dave on my 99. I had fought it for a couple months before I figured out what it was. I ended up soldering it as well.
