We were using weight and spreader bars but found these trick rod holders last time we were in the straights.

We will be in Sekiu the week before labor day - if'n any of you want to catch a boat ride or meet up. Knowing Ron, we'll probably leave on Tuesday.

HHHmmmm boat ride sounds fun, maybe I can even find 50 cents or so for bait and fuel.........

How were you using downriggers for butt fishing??

They work great when the current is running hard!

I put a chum bag on the downrigger weight and attach my line with a few feet of line between the clip and my bait.

You get one on and all you fight is the fish not the weight.

I use a regular spreader bar setup when the current is slow

So you have to continually adjust downrigger and reel for the bottom contour? Or do you keep it up above the bottom and let the fish come to you?

We fish on anchor so we have very little adjusting to do. I keep a close eye on them and keep em right on the bottom. We have been very successful using the downrigger method
