Torque specs and oil

Anyone know torque specs for head bolts? Cam bolts and rocker bolts? Also what oil would you use to break in the camshaft? I plan to add zinc. Break in change oil run it a week (about 400 mi ) then change the oil again. Thanks

I would run some royal purple break in oil.

 

Head bolts....

 

stage 1 40nm, 30 ft-lb

stage 2 60nm, 44 ft-lb

stage 3 additional 1/4 turn,

stage 4 additional 1/4 turn.

 

bolt pattern

10 4 2 6 8

7 5 1 3 9

 

cam bearing cap stud nuts 20nm, 15 ft-lb

 

OEM stretch bolt camshaft bearing cap: 71 inch lb (about 6 ft lb) + 1/4 turn

OEM stretch bolt injector rocker lever: 14.8 ft lb (20 Nm) + 1/4 turn

18mm center camshaft sprocket bolt: 74 ft lb

6mm upper tandem pump bolts: 15 ft-lb

5mm lower tandem pump bolts: 7 ft-lb

valve cover bolts: 7 ft-lb

Should I change filter after break in oil or just oil ? Time to pull oil pan and start cleaning then put it all back together

Absolutely change the filter.

 

Also there are a couple of oil pan bolts that are in deep. 1/4" drive works best.

Ive had oil pan off before when I picked this up two years and 45k ago it had blown turbo and lost all the oil I pulled pan and checked for carnage in bottom end. Thanks for all your insight learning so much about tdi. Funny the v-8 I could have built with what this tdi is costing
