New to me 2nd gen project

Brother in law stopped by and helped me set the dash in. Lots to do still but it's nice to see this in place again. c16c6edac3dbd6031a5deeefa456b7f5.jpg

Time for some updates. I would have updated as I was going along but tapatalk was giving me trouble. The dash is basically done. I also installed the steering wheel from Don, thanks again Don! Just need to get my cables ran through the dash, mounted, and set up my monitor. I'll probably throw a radio of some sort in it while I'm at it. 2dbe2503e60970726f7ae4b93172d5dc.jpg

Some pics of the exhaust. It's a 5 inch diamond eye kit. I welded all but the front 2 slip joints. I wanted the exhaust to fit as tight to the body as safely possible so I had to make all of the hangers work in that way. I cut the hangers off of the clamps in the kit and welded them in such a way that I should be able to pop the hangers off, pull the front clamp and slide the whole thing out the back. I'm thinking I may want to try a stack for the track and summer sometime in the future. I'll try to get some more pics of the hangers later. This thing is low enough it's a real pain to get a decent pic under it on jack stands.40ced06abd9dac6d6bb245e96e7e6ea0.jpg7c752ae362c2f5a62ace319c081c873b.jpg4793198543a298c5fbfaae964bed6c5e.jpg9b5ec40748ee2088a560e61e2a374103.jpg0a3959714b0c2b3560bbc4444663c33f.jpg625a9ce927affea5f54815116e47735c.jpgd295c7048211d2e9b77398837899593f.jpge215a69579d3d883b2464a63baf613c8.jpg

New back window. I didn't install it. After watching the 2 younger men from the glass shop do it, I'm just fine with paying for it lol! 7dc7131a9521528697a92bd83f0bea8d.jpg

Here's what I did to run the air dog plumbing. I did this a while ago but I don't think I posted pics of it done. 349e5f45ab4431ea2f3cc66c243fce0d.jpg3b04cd9bc9aa0a200f8f558a6a31baec.jpg

That is exactly how I run the lines on a short box AirDog install. Doesn’t seem to be a better way to get around those body mounts. Looks great!

Mine would have. It's hard to see in the pic but I put a rubber coated clamp on the line right on that edge.

Both shutdown cables are done. The air shutdown actuates nicely. Firm pull but not bad. I can easily reach it in this spot. 331ea609f8c051dd2788f8e30b20de15.jpg5690c20fa2b0f9042eff2cb6dd99ed68.jpg

Just something to think about ………….. Make sure it is MORE than easy to reach those shut offs!

Take into consideration that under full throttle your butt is planted in the seat and that if you are at the track you will be strapped into a harness. It makes a huge difference in what you reach and what you cant. The belts are very restrictive. Even a factory seatbelt under acceleration will not allow you lean forward and extend the belt. Anything you need to grab for safety should be within reach when your shoulders are stuck to the back of you seat.

Been there done that got the tee shirt (and the stained shorts) to prove it.

I hear that! I was thinking I would make some type of strap or big hoop type handle I could put on it at the track.

Sounds good to me! I guarantee if my father in law was around he'd love to see that! Him, myself, and my daughter have some time watching Chuck!

Its alive! Still have some things to finish before I can drive it but it feels pretty good to see it turn the shiny new inside of the exhaust pipe black! 5246202af70bde74ad85eec846c261a2.jpgbd848d5650d7ce18d2ba74e8a66becb6.jpg658e7c35241b52e044a6383d1def0b4f.jpg

I think that thing really needs a powder coated black pusher intake to match the turbo piping. Just sayin...

I agree that would match very well. The stock one doesn't fit in anymore.
