One of my buddies from Search and Rescue just called me up and his truck up and died. It turns over and doesnt have any codes (He thinks) but wont start. It's an '03 Dmax/Ally. I told him to check the fuses and do the purging procedures for the fuel system. Any other things he needs to check? Truck has 75K miles on it so it's still under warranty right?

Fishin2deep might find this a little funny... He's broke down in Spanaway....

Must be doing some EMP testing down there today.. 783.gif

Give Juice a call... He knows about all that can go wrong with those things... Sometimes even how to fix em!

Does he have a Juice installed? If so, disconnect it first and try to start. They are notorious for just up and quitting.

He told me yesterday about a key trick to reset the limp mode... maybe that could help.....

Turn the key off and on (from off to run to off without starting) 7 times.

FFilter is by the pass side valvecover. simple to get to. when replacing make sure to crack the black slotted fuel bleeder screw and use the silver priming pump on top of the fuel filter head when the new element is installed. You may need to crank it up a couple of times in order for it to fire up!

Russ, any news on the out come?  sad.gif

He had it towed to Sunset Chev. and they replaced the fuel filter again and fired it up. I'm guessing we didnt try hard enough to get it started.... sad.gif

They replaced the FF for free, apparently there was some sort of recall on it.

Sometimes you need 2 people to get it started... one turning the key and the other one pumping the primer on the filter head.

Did you guys follow all the instructions in the owners manual under 'running out of fuel?'

Yeah.. I think it says that you need to remove the right rear tail light, then stand on your head with one eye open. 783.gif

Guess you guys should just get yourselves some lift pumps... Problem solved!
