    1980 VW Rabbit diesel

Any interest in a 1980 VW Rabbit diesel 4dr, 4spd, 138k, good tires, a little dirty but starts right up and drives. It has been sitting for 3 years but has been started and run regularly. I can email pictures but just to big to post and re-sizing them on my tablet is not a simple task. It even has a fresh rebuilt pump on it.

    Firestone air compressor

Local NAPA has a bearing......for $43!!! So I found the same bearing on Amazon for $8.49. I thought I would shop local if it was only a few dollars more but I'm not paying half the price of a new compressor for just one bearing. So the new bearing will be here in 2 days... I hope. Try and stay cool everyone.

    Doin outside work

Very nice work Hoss! I really like the look of those blocks.
  4. I went to air up my rear bags on my Denali the other when I had a car on a trailer and I didn't like how low the rear sat. So I lift the switch and nothing. I check the fuse and it's blown, put another fuse in and the same thing, blew another fuse. I was only 180 miles from home so I just hit I-5 and drove. It really did drive fine but there were a few bumps that it did bottom out on so I jumped off 5 and took the back roads home. This was last week, I pulled the compressor off today and the first thing I noticed was rust around the air inlet as I took the front cover off the pump more rust and barnacle on the aluminum housing. So I pulled the head and it looks like new so that water didn't come in from there. The electric motor spins free but the rod is Frozen to the crank pin. I thought I had it in a location that was well protected from water intrusion... I guess I was wrong...wait a minute, I WAS WRONG! I'm human after all! I will see if I can get a new bearing for it and put it back in. I guess I will have to make a cover for it. I hope I can just get away with new bearing but I'm sure it's some metric off the wall size.

Solar panel install in Loose Cruise

RV fridges are not cheap either, that's why I bought a residential Frigidaire and got a bigger unit in the same space as the RV unit. I would like to have a few solar panels and large storage batteries. I have done some reading and people are using older EV battery packs. They may be done in the vehicles life but they still have a long life after.

Looks good! 12v fridges tend to draw alot of juice but I guess in a marine application you can't run propane and the other choice isn't terrible. 110v fridge run off an inverter?

    Beetles last day....

With me. It's moving on to it's new owner today. This guy bought it for his grandson to get to collage and back...what a nice grandpa! I can say that I will really miss it but Beetles are like butt holes...there will always be another one right around the corner if I so choose. I have an ALH sitting in a corner just waiting to be used. I have it set up on a stand alone ECM so the options are almost limitless.

Diesel Rat Rod (hopefully build thread)

I could have used that on my old diesel Rabbit, it a great idea. How about using an explosive bolt? Go out with a bang?

Looks nice Ben! If your day job gets tiring you can always go to work for WDOT and be the guy that removes the reflectors between the lanes! Make a scraper for your oil pan and just air down and drive on!

    Silverwood trip

Enjoy your trip! What tire pressure are you running on the truck? Maybe it could just be something simple like sidewall flex?

    Cleaning Garage

The transfer case pump kit is well worth the money. A very smart investment if you have your tc apart.
  14. Very nice setup Dave! I'm sure it will bring you many miles of smiles and the most important peace of mind! Makes me miss my Volvo even more.
