Hey guys, been reading for a long time, enjoy the info you all have.

Heck of a first post but here goes.

My truck has been missing VERY intermittantly, and I did the key turn thing, and it threw this back at me.

Oh, its a 2001 Dodge Cummins.

It flashed the following:

PCU 1693
ECU 0216

Can you guys tell me what this means?

Also could you tell me the warranty on the 01? It was probably only 5/100000 I suppose.

I have had the truck since it was new in Sept of 01, and only have 82K on it, but am probably screwed.

Thanks for your insight.

Aaron.

I would at least check with the dealer as far as your warrenty goes but do not let them do the replacement if they will not cover it. You can get the job done a lot cheaper (by better people) thru local vendors 049.gif

Thanks. I don't want the shirt though. mad.gif

I'm getting the lift pump redone, gonna see if I can get a little more time out of the VP. Just trying to decide between the FASS or the BD Power. I like the idea of the extra filters of the FASS, but my truck is pretty much stock and I think the BD may be enought to do what I need. It seems to be running just fine at this time, who knows.

Sometimes they will keep going. Had any dead pedal issues yet?

Also search here there other options for pumps than just the two you have listed.

I have had no symptoms other than 3 hickups over the last 2 months. I knew that they weren't right, but didn't think much of them. I took my edge ez off and the truck ran flawlessly, so I kind of racked it up to the edge. Sent the edge in to be reprogrammed, got it back, and she acted funny again under load. Took it back off, and good again. Got home and checked the codes and saw the dreaded 0216 code. That is where I sit today, after talking to a guy at a local shop that I really trust, along with Lynn from Dynomite Diesel and Mike from the Powershop.

I had actually already printed that out. Also had my book out and on page 12 it clearly states that the warranty for the Cummins engine starts AFTER the 3/36. We'll have to see what they say.

Don't know if I have it in me to go down the road to a big fight.

Thanks for the info.

Well, after an hour on the phone with Chrysler, along with getting hung up on no less than three times, I was able to get to a living person. I started by stating that I felt I had warranty under the cummins limited warranty, as clearly stated that it began after my 3/36 ended. I argued with one, then two then three. When I was on with the supervisor, she emphatically stated that I had no warranty but would not address my request of the following: "Tell me if the language in my warranty book is a misprint, or a lie." She would not speak to either request. She told me to go to the previous page, where it clearly states that all cummins HEAVY DUTY (over 10K) have warranty that starts at the in service date. She was talking over my arguement, yelling practically. I was able to get the comment in to her that my cummins was not over 10K rated, and was not a heavy duty. As soon as I said that, it was as a switch turned off in her voice. She quit yelling and said, "Sir, you have no warranty but I can help you." She transferred me to someone else with a reference number, and they told me to take it to the nearest dealer. I did, they diagnosed the problem, and told me that they would pay $2800 of the repair, if I paid $750. I considered fighting, as my position is that I have warranty still, but agreed to let them fix the truck. They did the repair, with the updated in tank lift pump, and I paid my "Deductible" and moved on. It runs great, but as in any typical dealer fassion, they forgot to reset the codes. I will go back tomorrow to get that done.

I intend on getting my $750 back too, and will start my letter campaign as soon as I can get some miles on the truck with my 30 foot Komfort behind it to make sure all is well.

Thanks for the info you guys gave. It helped alot. Next purchase, fuel pressure/pyro gauges in a pod.

Aaron.

Well do some reading and you'll fine that in tank lift pump is a worse fix than the normal lift pump location.

I would look into other options and a fuel pressure guage.
