I am leaving the south sound area around noon on friday towing my 5th wheel. I figure it won't be too bad going north.

I am thinking we should just meet up in Vancouver at Exit 9. there is a big parking lot right off the freeway.

I will try and pull up the Portland to Hoss's thread later and see if anyone else wants to meet up.

I also need to check with my buddy John who is riding up with me and see what time he can be at my house on Friday. I would love to bombvoy up with you, but if you can miss Seattle traffic by getting up early and you don't want to wait for us it is no big deal to me.

Is there really any time that you can go through or around Seattle in either direction without difficulty?? (Other than 2:35 am, of course. Then it's all the high speed chases)

Used to be in the wee hours you pretty much had I-5 to yourself, but anymore, it is 24/7 madhouse on the super slab through downtown!! blink.gif blink.gif

I will be praying for a good Friday commute. It can take a couple of hours on a Friday commute to get from downtown Seattle to Arlington on I-5. It sometimes gets really crazy trying to get into/through Everett. alarm.gif alarm.gif

Good luck and God Speed!!

Coming from the south that time of day can take forever. Both I-5 and I-405 get backed up. To avoid a lot of it you could always get off I-5 in Federal Way and take Hwy 18 to Hwy 202 in Snoqualmie. From there pick up Hwy 203 in Fall City and take it to Monroe. Hwy 2 to Snohomish and then Hwy 9 to Arlington. Might have a bit of traffic in Monroe, but nothing like I-5 in Everett.

I will be on 10.

I also have Brad's number so I will be in touch to see where they are.

Doug, Do you think that detour is worth it with the trailer and all. Or should I just sit out I-5 traffic?

If you're going to be in stop and go traffic I would take the other route. It sucks having a manual transmission and having to creep and crawl through all of that. And if you're like me the the frustratuion will only make it worse. You'll be doing it all through Seattle on I-5 or Bellevue and Kirkland/Bothell if you go off onto I-405. Then again in Everett. Hwy 18 usually flows pretty good. You'll have a pretty good hill after the Issaquah exit going over Tiger Mt. After that Hwy 202 after the Salish Lodge down to Fall City is a bit steep with curves, but very manageable at 35 mph. Turning off onto 203 at Fall City it's 55mph except for passing through Carnation and Duvall. No lights in Carnation and only three or so in Duvall. From there to Monroe its back to 55. Monroe can take a little time to get through, but its not that far. Hwy 9 heading north fom Snohomish has a fair number of lights, but I don't think you'll be sitting in traffic that much. At least not as much as I-5 through Everett. After Lake Stevens it thins out a lot and shouldn't take long to make it to Arlington. I have to pick up the Krisy Kremes in Issaquah and fill the fridge. If you want to take this route and will be passing through Tacoma around noon, earlier or a little later is ok, I can meet up with you. Hobart/Issaquah or Fall City if you'd like.
