That’s the way to go Robert. I bet you feel real comfy.

    $$$Propane$$$

Dry storage for a pallet could be an issue. I could probably find room at the shop and then bring home a bag or two at a time. It does bring the price down a bit when you do buy a pallet at a time.

    👍 great , way less $$ and great heat , buy a pallet at a time +/- $220

    $$$Propane$$$

Well I finally got tired of paying high prices for propane to keep my trailer warm. I couldn't afford to keep it as warm as I would like to have. So I picked up a used pellet stove and moved the furniture around a bit and I now have warm trailer! .

It’ll be an older boat. Are these older Hinos or Lehmans something to stay away from? I realize it all depends a lot on maintenance and hrs but I wouldn’t buy a well cared for vintage OMC either.

Single screw in that size, Deere 6090. A little bigger, Scania 11 or 13l. Can go over 900HP with the 13L. Dave

    2002 rebuilt title

My son in law is very excited about getting this truck. Going to be WAY better than the 93 we were trying to get running for him......I am now praying even more that you get well and are able to return home......

Yeah I saw that to and was confused, I’m assuming one of those “blocks” should be a head.

That would be sweet too. I look for diesel cruisers almost daily on Craigslist. I’m at least 2 years from another boat but I’m trying to get educated. I’ve got some wants that might be hard meet. 30-35’ LOA, under 12’ beam, “trailerable”, single screw diesel with a bow thruster or twin diesels. I don’t need a planing hull anymore. The more I look the more I realize this is a needle in a haystack situation lol.

From the link about the engine Cylinder Block and Head: the cylinder block is made of strong gray cast iron, with five main bearings. To minimize weight, it features an aluminum cylinder block, Huh????????????

I would like to see the BMW engine in that application. Dave

A pair of those as inboards in a 30-35’ Sedan Cruiser would be sweet.

    Using antifreeze?

Woodenhead, private mail sent. yes it probably not all dodge problem, the first transmission problems showed up running an Edge Easy with less than 30K.

This must be the motor they are using. http://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-engines/luz/amp/

    Using antifreeze?

Repaired cracked head? Any details on where it was cracked and what was done to fix it. I have a cracked head on the shelf I might do something with some day. Pretty hard to blame Dodge for these issues. Everything you’ve listed seems to be related to your performance enhancements, I can’t speak for the Vp44s. I doubt you’d have had fewer issues doing similar performance modifications to a Ford or Chevy of this vintage.

    Using antifreeze?

getting the truck back this week, new head gasket, o-rings, valve job, repaired crack head, new studs, and new inters for the lower turbine. Sad $$$$, as I want to trade it off. now we into this repairs, two Vp44 and two transmission rebuilds, in 150,000 miles. Wife call it the lemon. I think it be the last Dodge we own.

The price and maintenance repair work will/is the two big factors holding back the popularity of these units. any lodges or charter operators need instant service and repair wherever they are based. Im not talking tomorrow or the day after. The boat has to get operational that day. The fuel economy alone would outweigh the price for a lot of charter operators who fish off shore on the BC coastline. If a good diesel mechanic was nearby who knew these engines for service work and in season repairs, these engines will boom off the shelf. Until a few operators with well known names have them and put lots of trouble free hours on them, people will still be hesitant. I’m not talking company test boats but real, well know charter operators in active popular fishing locations! Bamfield, Rivers Inlet,Queen Charlotte Islands, Prince Rupert, some of the Alaska destinations as well. I really like the clean and quiet operation. Smooth transmission. Ben,, I agree, the guy doing the filming was mega annoying. I turned the volume off until they were on the boat. I just wanted to say, Shut the heck up! Wouldn’t be a bad thing to tip him over the side!

The extended range is a huge factor of cool in my book , especially for the guys who go in salt waters for tuna and such

I'm a big fan of safer, too. Outboard gassers are not so scary, but the inboards , yeesh!
  24. I always used Stanadyne when I added anything. I haven't used any additives in quite a while. Never in the Silver truck. I suppose I should. A 2001 I did a bunch of work on recently needed the in tank pump replaced and I was surprised to see the inside of the take spotless. This truck sits for long periods of time, I am talking is spent over a year without moving recently. and zero water in the filter canister and nothing but clean diesel in the tank. This truck has never had any additive of any kind used.

Didn't get a lot done today. I cleaned up a few parts and smoothed out the top of the Pistons where the valves made contact with them, got rid of the Sharp edges. Ordered new valves the other day so as soon as they get in the head will go and get taken care of.

  28. Isn't it Power service that has the winter formula in the white bottle while the "normal" formula is in the gray/silver bottle?
